and then i changed my mind.

and then i missed a lot of things.

but i sure am loving life right now.

natural bridge round dos.

i thought it was pretty imperative we visit the natural bridge.
so we did.

when i was coming out of my building, i found these two waiting for me. i don't know what they're doing.
but they're adorable.

natural bridge is so pretty.
and the rain always makes everything better.
especially because i get to wear my red rain boots.
oh layton. so loved.

destiny and lady gaga.

the magnificent sister checketts flew out here thursday, and has been gracing us with her presence ever since.
and she is so dang fun.
when she got here we went to macado's in lexington (which is so yum bt dub).
the next day we headed to dc for some site seeing.
i was determined to document.

we're super awesome at taking pictures. the camera just loves us.
it was beyond hot. might as well run through water from an unknown source.

these are our "i miss utah" faces. layton looks like he's going to pull a spider man and just crawl up the stone.

national art museum.

chipotle. that burrito was bigger than my face.
layton made sure i had my first gelato experience. orange dark chocolate. mmm.

after the relief society broadcast, sister checketts and i called up layton and told him we were going to the waffle house. he thought it was a joke.
this is not a joke.
me: is the strawberry or banana waffle better?
waitress: i dunno. i don't eat waffles.

layton: can i have apple juice?
waitress: do you want it in a glass or do you want it from the juicebox?
layton: juicebox.
waitress: oh good. i am not in the mood to pry open that box and pour it into a glass.

basically it can be concluded, if you haven't been to the waffle house, you are def missing out on some fun experiences.

also i got to see mine bestie carlee. we did not document. it was two in the morning.
but i was oh so happy to see her.

all in all a super fun trip! tanks for taking me.

at its summit.

every monday and wednesday i leave my art history class in complete awe.
the first day i walked in my professor said - "in art, nothing is new. except electricity."
and everyday i see that more and more.
what i love most of all, is the fact that before written history. before man could write what they were thinking. they felt the need to express themselves through art.
and you still see that. babies bobbing to music. kids coloring nonsense on every surface.
we've been writing on the walls since the beginning.

here are just a few of my favorite pieces so far.
Hall of Bulls
Lascaux, France
15,000 − 13,000 BCE
Paleolithic

Statuettes of Worshipers
Square Temple, Eshnunna (now Tell Asmar), Iraq
2700 BCE
Ancient Near East
(by far the coolest thing i've learned about. these votives would be used by the Sumerian's in temples. they would fashion them after their own likeness, and leave them in the temple, to represent their spirits while they were off living and working. i love being able to attach feelings and needs to these ancient people. so neat.)

Head of an Akkadian ruler
Nineveh (now Kuyunjik), Iraq
2250 − 2200 BCE
Ancient Near East

Lamassu for Sargon II
Dur Sharrukin (now Khorsabad), Iraq
720 − 705 BCE
Ancient Near East

more to come for sure.
my professor is incredible, and spent the last winter season in paris working on a project.
the project? carrying out cy twombly's design for the ceiling of the Salle de Bronzes.
in the Louvre.
my favorite thing she's said to us so far:

"Art is not immune to politics. Just because it's in your textbook, doesn't make it safe."

franks for the memories

no joke that's this restaurant's name.
and it was SO good.
and dreamy. perfect weather. enchanting lights. amazing food. great company.
all in all a picturesque night.
and those bags hanging around? they keep the bugs out.
serious it works.

stillness is the move.

pretty much been having so much fun here, and documenting none of it.
i just keep stealing mia's pictures.
so layton and i decided to go up to my {now} favorite place in buena vista to play some tunes.
and take a few pics.
i dusted off the good ole camera - and it was so gorgeous out.
not surprising. it's always beautiful here.
love where i live!
this photo. is for clark.
