My Hair!..(Ahlin name that movie)

(This is going to be a long one I'm sorry! But when the words flow they flow, ya know?)
Well I should probably start this post off by saying, I am the queen of phases. Ask anyone in my family. They should be able to rattle of a few right off the bat if you ask them. To name a few: the geckos, airsoft guns, knives, Disney Princesses, Disney Movies, coloring, photography (which is a phase I am still in, thank goodness), old movies, punk clothing (scary times), etc. Usually I don't discover that I am going through the phase until several months after the fact. Well today it's a little different. I noticed that a couple weeks ago that my 'style' changed a bit. I wish I would have stopped when I saw it coming but now I am afraid to say it is too late. . .
Jades sister came down about a month ago for the baby. She happens to be a hair person (I always forget what they're called. . .hair stylest? salonist? those don't sound right). So I had the crazy thought of, I'll cut and dye my hair! So she dyed the bottom half a subtle shade of brown and put some highlights in it. No big deal right? WRONG. I then had the thought while we were buying the brown hair dye, that I've always wanted teal in my hair. Why? I don't know, maybe I secretly want to be a mermaid. Point is, several hours later BAM there's a chunk of teal in my hair. Not very noticeable but still present. This started my new phase. The next week I found a pair of killer huge sunglasses, bought two pairs of skinny jeans (one purple one bright blue), painted my nails some insane dark color (night with a finish coat of blackberry, which is red, go figure) and got a crazy cool jacket. Well if you know me, when I go, I go all the way. And the teal wasn't cuttin it for me. So that Sunday I found myself at a friends house getting my hair dyed 'dark brown' aka black, underneath and covering the teal with purple! What the heck? I know. Now I realize that this is a phase. And I am crazy. Oh well. . . I LOVE IT!

The purple on the side. I put it underneath too...

Notice the nails...

yeah, thats black.

Fall is Here

Meet Kadee and Carlee. For the past week we have done many fun things during our Thanksgiving break. . . So on Thanksgiving we had a huge girls night and then the next morning went to Target for Black Friday. So we got some new fun clothes and hats, leading to a Fall photo shoot. It was tons of fun, I love my new Newsies hat and jacket. Well I'm grateful for all my friends and family! Happy Hollidays!

Cousin Time

My sister-in-law, Jade, finally had her baby! They named him Track Matthew Arrington (adorable isn't it?). Well visiting, from Canada, for this glorious occasion was Jade's sister Tatum (who naturally brought along baby Beckham) and Jade's mother. This, of course, called for a cousin photo shoot, since the kids live so far apart. So here are the fruits of this glorious occasion. My editing program is causing me grief, so these aren't the final products. I just thought that the fam would like to see! Love to all.

My Newly Learned Virtue

Well I am almost healed. There remain a few sores still, and there is still a hint of viral pneumonia (when I cough), but other than that I am healed! I can eat anything now that's not acidic. So I'm thinking to myself, there has to be some greater meaning to all of this. A reason for it, ya know? So I've been trying to see what I learned. And I immediately came up with patience. With a viral infection (in my mouth and chest), my prescription was to wait it out as said in my previous post. Well it wasn't the easiest thing to wait out. I've never felt pain like that in my entire life. I wouldn't wish that illness on my greatest enemy. So day by day I had to sit on the couch and let it get worse, and then s l o w l y get better. But I am grateful the worst of it is over. Now I get to sit at home and just gather strength back. I hope the patience I had to have with this will carry over into my daily life so I can get something good out of this. Well I thought I would share this with you readers out there...aka Ahlin. Okay. LOVES!

Riddle for the Day

What do you get when you cross raw hamburger meat and an open wound?.... MY MOUTH!

Gross, i know. But let me paint you a not so pretty picture...About two weeks ago I had a little fever. It lasted a week and then decided to turn into strep throat. So after a painful couple of days I finally got an antibiotic , the lovely Amoxicillin. So the drug cured my sore throat but then a funny thing happened. The next day I had a blister in my mouth. I said well thats odd and went and showed my beloved mother. She said uh oh that doesn't look so good and I said you're right. I turned and looked in the mirror and my lips were huge and my cheeks were even chubbier then they already are! So i took some benadryl and said it'll go away. So to my surprise the next morning my tongue was so swollen I could barely talk and my blisters had doubled PLUS I had a ridiculous cough. So mother threw me in the car and rushed me to instacare (its like the emergency room and doctors office combined). There I sat in almost unbearable pain in a hard chair for a pleasant 2 HOURS! Then I sat in the little doctors room for another hour and a half while the doctor mosied in and out making me to various blood tests and asking me ridiculous questions. He finally came to the conclusion that he didn't know what it was and he'd give me a bunch of pills to ease the pain and let it 'take its course'. I had like 4 different meds to take and none of them worked. (except the inhaler which helped me breathe). ANYWAY. . .turns out i had an allergic reaction to the amoxicillin. Well two days later, I wasnt lookin any better. in fact, I was worse. So I went to ANOTHER doctor to see if he could do anything. Well surprise surprise..he couldn't. He informed me I was just an unlucky girl and prescribed me some more pain pills. I was in so much pain I begged my mom to take me to the hospital and have them put me out. Imagine having a coldsore/blister on your lip or something. Ouch right. Now imagine hundreds of them on your tounge, cheekes, and going down your throat, making it near impossible to eat or drink anything. Everything burns like acid. Even water. Gross I know. So since I can't eat, I'm losing weight at a scary rate. Turned out, on top of the mouth thing, I also have 'viral pnemonia' whatever that is. So I did get some meds for that. So now I just have to 'wait it out'. He said it takes up to two weeks. Shoot me now. Who I feel so bad for is my mom though. She hasn't had a good nights rest in weeks. Not only because of me, but dear David has shingles and I had a little nephew born here on Friday. She looks pretty scary and I take all the blame. Last night I was up coughing and had the chills for hours and she held me the whole night and didn't sleep a wink. I don't know what I'd do without her.

Wow. This has been a very pathetic post. I'm not looking for pity, no no. I just have been sitting here for days on end and am bored out of my mind and needed to vent to someone because it's been a crazy week! So to all of you who have a normal mouth, I envy you. Ok, I should probably stop venting now. I'm starting to sound crazy. I'm blaming it all on the meds. The side effects include hallucinations, mood swings, diziness and drowsiness. So I probably won't even remember doing this post. Well, see ya later.

Oh yeah...Ben Franklin

I forgot to mention my dear friend Benjamin. I am taking AP US History and although it can be very difficult at times, it is also fascinating. Although I admire the founding fathers and those brave men who sought for a 'free' country I do have one little complaint: Why wasn't Ben Franklin the POTUS?! He was AMAZING! now now i know you are saying, as my beloved father did, that he was in fact too old to run a blossoming country. . . but who cares! I wish he would have. I admire him so much and am so grateful for his impact on America!

at least he got his face on the $100 bill! Even if he does look a little grumpy

“A Republic, if you can keep it.” - Ben Franklin when asked what form of government had been formed

Alfred Hitchcock...the love of my life...

So lately I've been completely obsessed with Alfred Hitchcock and his not so big hits. My good friend Will was so kind as to buy me a collection of 4 dvd's of low budget (mostly silent) Hitchcock films. I was touched . . . even if it only was 5 dollars at Wal Mart . . . but it was midnight so everything seemed sweet. ANYWAY...I thought you might all want to know that I love Alfred. You should too. I'm willing to share...unless you want to share the love for his hit Charades...in that case i would have to put my foot down. That one is all mine. Peace

Then & Now

Then
Now

As I was looking through and getting rid of some of my pictures on my computer I ran across my homecoming picture from last year. I laughed because we looked SO ridiculous. We didn't go to the actual dance because we weren't sixteen, but since we were on student council we got free pictures. Anyway, I thought it would be fun to do a then and now picture!

Homecoming

buying wizard head candles at a yard sale..
getting our hands copied
mixing our gum....

It's that time of year again....Homecoming. I had a great day with Nate. We did a picture scavenger hunt with our group and had an amazing dinner and the dance was one of the best i've been to. So I am proud to say it was a success. (the pictures aren't so much in order)
